Elvis International Magazine for July Now Available

How many out there have been to a Sammy J Concert?  How many have been to a Rockin’Ron Cade Sammy J Concert?  How many wished they could listen to Sammy J in their car or at home after they left the concert?   WELL……now you can!!  Memphis Memories Productions is proud to announce a Sammy J CD entitled “Long Lonely Highway”!  These special renditions of favorite Elvis classics were recorded from various Elvis & Friends Tribute Concerts.  Sammy J fans now have a CD worthy of high praise!!  Over the past few years, Sammy J has endeared himself to many, many Elvis fans in the Philadelphia , New Jersey and Delaware tri-state area.  Listeners of the Elvis & Friends Radio Show with Rockin’ Ron Cade on WOGL Philadephia radio are treated to Sammy J on Sunday mornings and at area concerts provided by Memphis Memories Productions.

Sammy J captures Elvis’ sound of the 70’s.  Elvis’ Christmas album from the 70’s was a wonderful mix of different Christmas sounds.  Sammy J has truly given us a Christmas treat with “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and “I’ll Be Home On Christmas Day”!  Rounding out Christmas….Sammy J gives us a “Blue Christmas” that you will listen to over and over again!  Terrific rendition!

If you want to shed a tear………then you will thoroughly appreciate “Danny Boy” and “Green, Green Grass of Home”.  The feeling that Sammy J puts into these two songs is incredible!  His voice is so reminiscent of Elvis’.  Emotion in motion!!  On an upbeat note, Sammy J gives his all to “Johnny B. Goode”.  If you have seen Sammy J perform this in person, then you know the level of energy that he puts into it!  Well, that energy comes through full strength in this offering.

Country Elvis is represented by “True Love Travels On a Gravel Road”!  Well done!!!  And, for more country flavor…….”There’s A Honky Tonk Angel”  featuring Sammy J’s velvet voice so gently offered to his fans.  “Help Me” rounds out this group of songs.  So wonderfully presented, that you envision Elvis performing this one himself!

One song that stands alone and that Elvis continued to include from the 50’s to the 70’s is one of my all time favorite Elvis classics!  “Love Me”………..with the signature “Treat me like a fool” line that every Elvis fan can relate to just jumps right off this CD!  Sammy J does this song justice!  What a fantastic way to open a CD that Elvis fans will treasure.

The closer and CD album title “Long Lonely Highway” is an example of saving the best for last!  Sammy J’s treatment of this song is truly praise worthy.  It’s upbeat and you will find yourself singing along and maybe dancing a little…….not while you’re driving though!!!

Sammy J has covered many styles of Elvis’ music with this CD.  This goes to show Sammy J’s versatility when it comes to delivering Elvis’ enormous variety of music.  These songs were performed live at various concerts with the background vocal and guitar on some  performed by Rockin’ Ron & The Rockin’ Ronettes.  This CD is well worth purchasing and adding to your collection.  And, it should be noted, that included is a personal touch of Sammy J greeting members of the audience that you only get during a live performance and he very warmly wishes everyone a Merry Christmas as only Sammy J can!  The CD can be purchased through Memphis Memories Productions by going to:  www.memphismemoriesproductions.com

CLARK KENT & LOIS LANE

HEAD FOR METROPOLIS!!

It’s that time of year, again!!!  SUPERMAN enthusiasts are flocking to Metropolis, Illinois for the annual Superman Convention.  This year’s dates of June 10 thru 13 will again see Clark Kent and Lois Lane interviewing the stars and fans!  Actually, this dynamic duo of reporters is really Jamie Aaron Kelley and Ronda Kelley.  Last year saw them interviewing celebrities, Clark trying his hand at baseball and emceeing.  It remains to be seen what trouble Clark will get into this time around, but one thing is for sure………..Clark and Lois will do a super-fantastic job of bringing all of the events back to everyone here at home.

        program.  The Elvis Tribute Show this year will feature Elvis Tribute Artists

The dates are set and the entertainment is lined up for the ‘Elvis Cruise’ during Elvis’ 75^th Birthday year.  AND……Jamie Aaron Kelley is one of the special guests.  This cruise takes place November 4^th to 8^th and leaves from Jacksonville , Florida .  Cruise the Caribbean and Nassau , Bahamas along with many of Elvis’ friends.  Hosted by Jerry Schilling, this cruise will be one to remember.  The Imperials, Joe Guercio, DJ Fontana are just a few of the entertainers who will be part of this cruise.

Jamie Aaron Kelley to Participate in March Midwest Telethon  
and August Elvis Week 2010 in Memphis , Tennessee

March 6th & 7th, Jamie will be one of the guest Stars of the Variety Club Children's Charity of Iowa which will be televised on WOI TV channel 5 from Des Moines Iowa .  Emma Samms from TV soaps will be there along with Shawn Johnson with several other entertainers and Miss Iowa USA, Miss World and Miss Teen Iowa .  The audience holds 400 people so anyone can go sit at the show location ( Des Moines Convention Center ) and enjoy the festivities.  Jamie and the other Stars of the show will be touring the care facilities.  I am told this is the largest telethon of it's kind in America , next to Jerry Lewis' annual event.  It's been done for 36 years now and Jamie will not only assist the on screen activities but will also sing 6 or 7 songs with the 16 piece orchestra and the Nashville band that will be there.  More details later for those who plan to watch or attend.

 The TV channels that will carry the Telethon on March 6th and 7th are WOI-TV Des Moines, WHBF-TV in Rock Island Illinois and KCAU-TV in Sioux City Iowa . 

Elvis Week 2010:  Jamie will be performing at the former Clarion hotel with shows and one other special event that we will release information on very soon.  His performances at the Clarion during January's Birthday celebration brought rave reviews and we expect even bigger crowds and more fun during the August gathering.  More on this as to dates and times, etc. in a week or two, maybe sooner!  So make plans to attend or rearrange your schedule so that you can be at one of those performances.  Jamie will be performing in Dad’s Lounge at the former Clarion.  Ownership has changed for the Clarion and it has been going under the name of Memphis Airport Inn located on Brooks Road .  Stayed tuned for further information.

1968-’69 Australasia Tour of Elvis’ Gold Cadillac

Elvis Presley loved cars!!  This was one of his passions.  Today, many of Elvis’ cars can be seen in the car museum at Graceland , in Memphis , Tennessee .  One very special car took a tour outside the boundaries of the United States , something that its owner never accomplished.  Elvis’ Gold Cadillac toured Australasia during 1968-69.  Now, through the efforts of Peter R. Hayden, the story of this incredible tour can be told.  Mr. Hayden has researched this tour thoroughly and has uncovered many interesting stories and photos to compliment the information that makes this tour so unique.

Mr. Hayden is the president of the “Elvis, Wild in the Country Club’ in Australia .  An avid researcher of Australian Rock & Roll and Elvis’ music, his skills have been called upon many times to provide information for articles and fan clubs around the world.  Bob’s love for rock and roll dates back to the 50’s and he has contributed much to the history of this type of music and the artists that have made it famous in Australia .

Today, this Gold Cadillac can be enjoyed on display in the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum minus some of its famous gold modifications.  Bob covers all aspects of the tour, from the beginnings of the tour in the USA to a final stop in New Zealand .  Along the way, he provides many enjoyable stories about the ‘Golden Girls’, The Benevolent Society, Souvenirs and Gold Records, Tour Highlights and much more.

Legendary DeeJay Ken Berryhill Features Jamie Aaron Kelley
On Elvis 75^th Birthday Tribute Show WRVU Nashville

Sometimes you meet someone either in person or over the Internet and you immediately are intrigued by this new acquaintance.  This happened to me awhile back when I was searching for a radio show through which the music of Jamie Aaron Kelley could be shared with the world.  Through a friend of a friend, I found WRVU in Nashville .  But the jackpot was in the form of a legendary DJ by the name of Ken Berryhill who is credited with formulating the beginnings of this Vanderbilt University radio station!  This gentleman has the history of which legends are made and a personality that will charm you.  Researching some of Ken’s history, I soon learned that he had interviewed and worked with the best of the country music world.  So, when he offered to give Jamie Aaron Kelley airtime, I was honored.  Just as Elvis was the “first superstar”, Mr. Berryhill is the “first ‘personality’ DJ before we even called them DJs” according to Wink Martindale.  Mr. Martindale credits Mr. Berryhill with setting him on a career in radio and television.  Along the way, Mr. Berryhill crossed the path of Col. Tom Parker and a young entertainer named Elvis and many other country stars. He has produced shows such as the Blackwood Brothers Television Show and taught a comedy course at Memphis State University .  Eventually, this natural comedian, wrote a book “Funny Business, Professional Guide to Becoming a Comic”.  This natural humor shines through even in an email!! 

Jamie Aaron Kelley’s rockabilly style music impressed Mr. Berryhill and it wasn’t long before airtime was given to cuts from “Sun Also Rises Vol. 2 Memphis Fire” by Jamie and the Dempsey’s.    Then, on the occasion of Elvis’ 75 Birthday, Mr. Berryhill featured cuts from both “Memphis Fire” and “The Heart and Soul of Rock and Roll” CDs by Jamie Aaron Kelley.  Cuts, such as “Lovesick Blues”, “Maybelline”, “Tennessee Saturday Night”, “Tweedle Dee” and “Rag Mop” gave listeners a chance to hear rockabilly at its best.  Rockabilly music surrounded Elvis in the early days of his career and he produced some of the greatest rockabilly we have known.  

Rounding out the tribute show, Mr. Berryhill shared with his listeners Jamie’s “Sun Medley” which features Johnny Cash and Elvis classics.  “If You Only Knew”, “Honky Tonk”, and “The Elvis Medley” were also highlights of this program.  “ Memphis in the Meantime”, which could serve as an anthem to Memphis , was featured at the beginning and end of the program.  Mr. Berryhill was born and reared in Tennessee and has given the airwaves a talent that will remain one to surpass for many years to come.  It is with great respect that I say that it has been an incredible pleasure meeting Mr. Berryhill via the computer and radio waves.  Nothing would be better than to meet him in person in the future!

Mr. Kelley’s website has information as to his current CDs now available and how to obtain them.  Jamie Aaron Kelley is an international recording artist who has appeared in Japan in Tokyo , Canada in Toronto and across the USA .  Recent USA appearances include  Las Vegas, Memphis, Atlantic City,  Chicago, New Jersey and in his home state of Iowa in Clear Lake and Ames.  Mr. Kelley is an ardent Elvis fan and credits Elvis as an important influence on his career.
